Christmas Parcels Project 2017

As usual at this time of year our fundraising turns towards the annual Christmas Parcels project.  Many recipients in the past have commented that knowing someone had thought of them was even more important than the parcels themselves.  With this and the recent successful launch of our Quay Time Project in mind, we are shifting the focus of the Christmas Parcels and will work in partnership with the Woodbridge branch of the Salvation Army, offering packages of seasonal groceries to users of the food bank scheme.

All former recipients of Christmas parcels will be invited to come along to Quay Time, a joint project with Woodbridge Quay Church. This community oriented project enables people to meet over tea (or coffee) and cakes to organise their own activities.  These afternoons themselves may feature quizzes, board games or visiting speakers and offer an opportunity to arrange social activities throughout the year, not just at Christmas.  Sessions are held in Woodbridge Quay Church, which is fully accessible. Transport can be provided for anyone who may otherwise have difficulty attending.

Christmas Parcels Project 2016

The annual Christmas Parcels project  reached its conclusion on the weekend of 17th & 18th December 2016, with parcels being delivered right across  the area served by the Lions’ Club of Woodbridge & District, an area which extends from the town boundaries of Ipswich and Felixstowe to include Kesgrave, Martlesham, Otley, Easton, Framlingham, Orford and Bawdsey as well as Woodbridge itself.

This year has seen us put together 200 parcels of seasonal groceries, many for people living alone, but also for a number of couples and families for whom Christmas might otherwise be just another day

We are enormously grateful to East of England Coop for their support and donations; to the congregation of the Quay Street Church, Woodbridge who so kindly and generously donated goods for the parcels and especially to all the people who contributed via our street and store collections.
