Alongside our fundraising and community programmes, we have a variety of social events throughout the year. These include theatre visits and evening speakers, the occasional trip out to places of interest and a number of evening events, ranging from informal pub meals and barbeques through to dinners with speakers.
Following the recent litter pick along the Bawdsey beach we adjourned to a local pub for an informal meal and a chance to exchange anecdotes about the quantity of litter – and unusual items – we had found.
The Lions’ year runs from 1st July to 30th June. We generally mark the occasion with a “handover” lunch. This year it took the form of a barbeque, even though there will be no change in the team holding the officer posts – why miss the opportunity for a party?
We also enjoyed an evening meal in the company of a former Woodbridge Lion and his wife, who had left the area some time ago. A dozen or so Lions and their partners – long-time members, some new and others who have moved on – got together to enjoy a meal, catch up on what everyone had done in the intervening years and to share anecdotes of the not-so-old days.”
